Melissa Coffey is the author of FRIDGE-OPOLIS, which won the 2022 Writers’ League of Texas Discovery Award; the forthcoming ONE SPARK (2026); and 12 more books on the way. She spent 20+ years writing professionally for grown-ups before discovering her passion writing for kids. She loves creating stories that garner giggles, expand horizons and inspire action and emotion. Melissa lives with her family in Austin, Texas. Visit her at melissacoffey.com.

Melissa Coffey is the award-winning author of FRIDGE-OPOLIS (2022), the forthcoming ONE SPARK (September 1, 2026) and 12 more books on the way May 4, 2027. She grew up in Wisconsin toting around an overstuffed book bag and Trapper Keeper of poetry and stories. Unsurprisingly, her first job was at the public library. After earning a journalism degree from UW-Madison, she moved to Atlanta and called CNN Center home. Melissa then launched Coffey Creative as a freelance writer/editor serving Fortune 500 companies, CEOs and magazines before pursuing her passion as a children’s author.
